As the largest custom home builder in northern Arizona, we offer a unique Design/Build program that sets us above and apart from the traditional triangle of lot owner, architect, and contractor that is often a disconnected and arduous process. Our in-house Capstone Homes Design/Build program brings it all together in one place.

Your personal designer, sales associate, options coordinator and project manager are your team. From first introductions to move-in and beyond, we are with you every step of the way providing you with our expertise, service and support.  Your team is in constant communication with you and always accessible. With Capstone Homes’ Design/Build program, we make building your dream home a pleasant and rewarding experience.

Homesite Selection

Choosing a location and homesite for your future custom home is an exciting first step. Whether you already own your lot or are evaluating a lot to buy, we will walk it with you. Together we can visualize where your home will sit to enjoy the best features and maximum view corridors inherent with the topography of your land as well as discuss site preparation. If you need to purchase a lot, our Capstone Homes sales specialists can assist you in finding and purchasing the perfect homesite. We know where the best homesites are available, often before they are on the market. We can negotiate on your behalf as experienced land buyers.

  • 4 - Floorplan Design

    Floorplan Design

    Bring your dreams, design ideas or sketches and your personal Capstone Homes designer will draw the floorplan you envision. If you need inspiration, our Capstone Homes collection of floorplans showcases nearly 100 plans. Any of our previous Capstone Homes floorplans can be customized just for you. At this stage, a simple design agreement is signed.

  • 5 - Custom Pricing

    Custom Pricing

    When your preliminary floorplan is agreed upon, we are able to begin pricing your home. This pricing includes all permits and fees as well as custom quality interior features. Your personal finishes can be further customized when you meet with the options coordinator and design center. You will receive a thorough price by our experienced purchasing team. Once we have designed and priced your home to your satisfaction, you will give a $5,000 deposit to start construction plans. Your $5,000 deposit is applied to the purchase of your home.

  • 6 - Elevations and Permit

    Elevations and Permit

    Once your full floorplan is drawn, exterior elevations are created, bringing your home to life. Permits are submitted and a detailed color board of the exterior finishes of your home is presented to the design review committee of your community.

  • 7 - Interior Selections

    Interior Selections

    While your floorplan and exterior design are under review, the interior design of your custom home is completed with your personal selections and options. This is one of the most creative and enjoyable experiences for custom home buyers. You are invited to personal appointments with your options coordinator, interior design center, custom cabinetry craftsman, and technology specialist. You have the ability to select your options from our custom fine finishes or choose your own customizations. Final pricing is detailed for your approval.

  • 8 - Pre-Construction Meeting

    Pre-Construction Meeting

    At your pre-construction meeting with your team and our construction manager, all structural options, layouts and interior options are reviewed for your approval and to ensure everyone is on the same page. This is your opportunity to make final changes or adjustments before construction begin. Upon your signature of the plans, construction begins immediately.

  • 9 - Framing & Electrical

    Framing & Electrical

    Soon your home is ready for a framing/electrical walk. You and your team will review structural items such as showers, fireplaces and driveway layout. Any changes that were made at your pre-construction meeting are shown to you at this walk through. You will also personally meet with our electrician to call out your custom placement of electrical outlets, internet and cable outlets, light fixtures and ceiling fans as well as make any special requests for networking, technology, security and sound accommodations. Every fixture and outlet will be exactly where you placed it.

  • 10 - Construction Communication

    Construction Communication

    Construction is continually coordinated by our professional team. Your sales associate and superintendent are always available to safely give you a tour of your home under construction. Each Friday, your superintendent will send you updates and photos of the progress of your home. Capstone Homes is one of the only four-season homebuilders, so construction of your home continues in any weather.

  • 11 - New Home Delivery

    New Home Delivery

    After our quality control manager has walked the home, your new home is presented to you upon construction completion. Our customer service manager gives you a detailed tour of your home to review all the features, owner’s manuals, warranties and follow-up services to ensure we have exceeded your expectations in every way.
