Prescott and Prescott Valley is in the heart of the Prescott National Forest among the desert highlands landscape accented with Pinion Pines, juniper, rugged canyons, rolling hills and fascinating boulder formations such as the Granite Dells. The area has a mild four-season climate enjoying short winters with occasional snow, comfortably warm summers with cooling rains, a colorful crisp fall, and beautiful variable spring weather. Prescott boasts an abundance of public golf courses, Yavapai Regional Medical Center as well as a Veterans Administration Medical Center, and an array of major shopping centers including Prescott Gateway Mall and Frontier Village and the quaint shops of Whiskey Row historic downtown. There are several college campuses in the area to enjoy classes and cultural events. For a change of pace or climate, Phoenix is two hours south and the mountains of Flagstaff are less than two hours north. An interesting point of trivia: Prescott is pronounced “Pres-kitt”. The variation was intended to create a difference from old English and is in honor of historian William Hickling Prescott. With a variety of established and new communities, Prescott and Prescott Valley is an appealing place to reside for young families as well as active retirees.
